My Must-Have Hair Products -- The Life She Wanders

At the beginning of the year I shared a highly requested post on my go-to hair products and y’all loved it! Since it’s been quite some time and a few of the products I use have changed a bit, I figured it was time to share an update on my must-have hair products!

SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER

I first heard about Kristin Ess because she does Lauren Conrad’s hair and I’m 10000% team LC over here! [anyone else watch The Hills religiously back in the day??] So when she came out with her line of hair care products at Target I knew I had to give them a try. I’ve been using the Signature Shampoo for quite some time now and absolutely love it. So much so that I added the Signature Conditioner into my routine soon after and I’m hooked. These products are free of sulfates and they have the faintest clean smell to them. They are each $10 and last quite a long time [I typically only wash my hair 1-2 times a week].

DRY SHAMPOO

If you haven’t hopped on the dry shampoo train yet, you are seriously missing out! Yes, it takes a little bit of time to oil train your hair to get it to last longer between washes but once you get there, dry shampoo will forever be your BFF. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know my love for Franklin & Whitman - especially their dry shampoo. I love that its not an aerosol and is powder based, coming in a shade for dark hair and light hair. The scents are amazing but my favorite is the grapefruit one [don’t worry, it’s not too overpowering!] It’s just under $20 and lasts such a long time; a little goes a long way!

I also recently started using the Kristin Ess Style Reviving Dry Shampoo since I love her shampoo & conditioner so much. This stuff works SO well! It is an aerosol but it doesn’t have a super strong scent in my opinion and a little truly does go a long way!! I was using a bit too much at first because I wasn’t used to it and my scalp/hair got a little too dry from it absorbing every ounce of oil. But lesson learned and I absolutely love it! It’s priced at $14 and seems to last a decent amount of time, especially since I don’t use it every day and will alternate it with the Franklin & Whitman one.

DRY CONDITIONER

I had never heard of dry conditioner and was a bit skeptical at first when I saw it on the shelf at Target, but this Style Reviving Dry Conditioner from Kristin Ess is an amazing product! Not only does it instantly add smoothness and shine back to your hair that hasn’t been washed in days, but it is oil and odor absorbing and acts as a heat and UV protection - it’s like 3 products in 1! This is also priced at $14 and worth every penny!

HAIRSPRAY

I have probably been using this Herbal Essence Body Envy Volumizing Hairspray since college, if not high school, it is that good! I panicked once in the store because I thought they didn’t make it anymore but they had just changed up the packaging a bit. It is a volumizing hairspray with high holding power but leaves your hair soft to the touch with so much movement. I spray this every day to my hair, no fancy tricks to this one. Oh, and it’s only $3.99 so it’s an amazing deal and lasts so long!

HAIR TOOLS

I’ve been a Conair girl for as long as I can remember. I had had the same Conair curling iron for YEARS and it still worked like it was brand new…but just a bit dirty so I decided to give it an update. I’ve been using this Conair Double Ceramic Curling Iron for several months now and absolutely love it! I use the 1” barrel and find the white and rose gold combo to be so pretty, especially compared to 99% of curling irons that are black. It heats up extremely quick and my curls last all day, sometimes even into day 2 with just a few touch-ups needed. This curling iron is also only $10, that’s right, TEN DOLLARS!

HAIR TIES

Gone are the days of overstretched hair ties and hair getting knotted all around them, these Scunci No Damage Knotted Ribbon Elastics are amazing! They don’t leave a crease, don’t stretch out [which is hard to find IMO] and are easy to take out of your hair. I sleep with my hair in a ponytail and use these every single night. I usually keep one in my purse at all times too, just in case. A 4-pack of these is just $3 so stock up!

There you have it - a round-up of my must-have hair products. If you try any of these be sure to let me know! What are your hair must-haves? Share below in the comments!
